I wish I was a great musician. But I'm not. I love to play, though. I've been playing guitar since 1970. Played
the heavy stuff in High School - no real bands, just a series of jam sessions.
Later, played a lot with my brothers, Ron Parr, Jr. and Craig Myers. Still
have some out-takes on cassette. Craig was
on of the founding members of York's Big Wheelie and the Whitewalls. Played
Bugle in the now defunct York White Rose Drum and Bugle Corps around '66/'67.
One time I was shopping for a French Horn for my daughter in a music store in
Baltimore, when I ran across a bugle bearing the York White Rose Drum Corps
logo. I bought it for $35. I still play it once in a while. I picked up the
'72 Stratocaster around 1978 or so. Traded a '61 Thunderbird for the '70
Custom amp in '72.
Wrote a few songs. Serenaded my wife on the night I proposed with If I
Were a Carpenter and For Your Love amongst others.
Now my grandson is learning to play guitar and harmonica.
I call
him Pennsylvania Alligator Slim.
The circle will be unbroken.
