Robo Cable
Whirs and whines and perfect time,
The arm moves with precision,
And moves the parts and mates the parts and paints them as we watch.
The one armed double-jointed man,
Artificial made in techno-program and perfection,
With arms that are the steel bands,
Make jealous the Smithee in pretension,
Making all those things we think we need,
In dogged mass production.
But the Cables!!
The power of life to these noble men,
In constant bend and flex,
Conduits from the remote electroplace
Bring food in kind to keep the line on line,
And highly powered sparks to fly like fireworks
From the ends of copper fingers.
Bend me here and bend me there.
The cable pleads to its maker:
Protect me from that welding slag
And bends that knot me
And break my strands
And cause my early failure.
Engineer, design to give me life
And manufacture me to live.
Keep me working on that noble arm
Long past my lifetime to give.
So let's listen when the cable talks,
Though we sometimes strain to hear.
The cable tells all we need to know,
If we only persevere.

Technology is our future. It is one of the few competitive advantages that we as a nation still possess. The rate of technological advancement is accelerating at a logarithmic rate. We will all experience future shock as innovation surpasses our perception. Wired devices are becoming un-wired. Un-wired devices are becoming wired. Natural speech recognition is here and will soon replace hard-coding and keyboard entry as processing speeds and memory become more and more inexpensive and miniaturized. Sought after skills will change constantly. People will change careers with alarming regularity. Full motion interactive cellular video is just around the corner. Many people already lead virtual lives. The internet is revolutionizing commercial and consumer spending and marketing. Anyone can put up a webpage and make his information available to anyone in the entire world who has internet access - a seamless communication with a potential audience of seven billion.
Manufacturing and assembly will move to the most efficient global location. But most services are not dependent on location if communication is efficient.
Are you ready for the ride of your life?
Wait until they get a load of us..................
